Simple

Photography is fun! Being a photographer has put me in a position to meet so many interesting people, it’s taught me how to be patient and it’s pretty cool that I don’t have to wear big people’s clothes to work everyday.  I love simple and spontaneous, can’t stand clutter and any type of structure when it comes to photography. The pictures below come from being spontaneous. My favorite 5 minute unplanned Photo shoot ever.

mara and brooke

In San Diego, I’d plan my day around traffic. In Omaha, I plan my day around weather. I don’t want to say I took the weather in San Diego for granted, but you forget most of America deals with wind, rain and snow.  You’d never know from this photoshoot it was really windy and cold. Brooke and Mara are so photogentic it’s ridiculous!

A day in the park

Not bad for November hah? This excellent fall we’re having in the Midwest has kept my days busy with photographing. I get asked often what’s my style of photography. Hmm, it changes with every photo shoot.  My approach is to never get in the way of people’s personalities. I say this over and over again; everybody has something beautiful about him or her. One of my favorite things about photographing is figuring that out.  Sitting down all in a row and smiling at the camera is not capturing somebody’s personality.  How many times in the day do you or your family sit in a row say cheeses and smile? Well, for those of you who do there’s meds for that.  If you let people be themselves you’d be surprised at the results. My approach to this photo shoot:

1. Memorial park was a priority for the family, which is great!

2. They hadn’t had any family photos in a while and were looking for something fun.

3. The boys aren’t going to have a long attention span. So distract them! If you let them jump off the wall and play football they think the photographers cool.

4. I always have to cameras going at the same time for close and far shots.

5. Patience

Photo Workshop

Yesterday, I taught my first photography Workshop. I was fortunate to teach such a brilliant group. We started off going over camera settings and then a photoshoot with our patient models. Here are some photos from the day. Remember photography is fun, so have some fun and don’t be scared of your camera.

Mothers Day photoshoot

So I get a call from Mike early last week asking me if I had some free time to photograph him and Michaela for a mothers day gift. Dang what a good idea and I highly suggest it next year to my dads.

Michaela is 5 month-ish and I’ve photographed her twice before as you’ve probably seen her from my past posts. I can’t believe how much she’s changed in such a short amount of time. She’s a dream to photograph.

I’ll be in Omaha memorial day weekend from May 27-31. If interested on setting up a time for some photograph’s let me know.

Happy mothers day to you!
